Minor in Art History
Who is this program for?
A minor in Art History is ideal for students passionate about exploring visual culture, historical art movements, and their societal impact. This program provides a strong foundation for careers in museum curation, art conservation, education, and roles in galleries or cultural heritage organizations. Students of Art History & Visual Studies will graduate with valuable, marketable skills to include visual analysis, critical writing and thinking and a sophisticated understanding of the increasingly visual culture we all live and work in. Students have undertaken internships on-campus at the UK Art Museum and in nationally-recognized institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Program Overview
The Minor in Art History focuses on the development of the visual arts, particularly the histories of "high" or "fine" art, within a broad liberal arts tradition. Students study artistic images, objects and events representing diverse cultures within a global context.
