Who is this program for?
This post-doctoral MS degree in dentistry is for DMD and DDS graduates enrolled in our post-graduate programs in Periodontology, Orthodontics, and Orofacial Pain. Graduates will receive both a Master of Science degree from the University of Kentucky Graduate School and a certificate.
Program Overview
The College of Dentistry offers Master of Science degree programs in Orofacial Pain, Orthodontics, and Periodontics. The goal of the Master's degree program is to educate scholars who are clinically sophisticated and well grounded in research and the biological basis of clinical practice. The program is designed to provide graduates with clinical proficiency in a specialty area, research experience, and exposure to the fundamentals of teaching in dentistry.

Our program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), the U.S. Department of Education–recognized authority that ensures dental and dental-related education programs meet rigorous, peer-reviewed standards. This CODA accreditation confirms that our curriculum, faculty, and clinical experiences are independently vetted, positioning graduates for licensure eligibility and trusted entry into dental or allied dental professions.

DMD or DDS degree from an accredited US or Canadian dental school or equivalent.
Application Requirements

- Include type of position, skills, experience, and background and any special interests or areas of focus. Include relevant courses and skills/knowledge learned, special projects, G.P.A. honors, awards, scholarships, thesis, research projects, extracurricular activities. List experiences, internships, volunteer activities, fieldwork, student teaching, etc.

- How and when did you become interested in the field? Why are you interested? What are your career goals? What have you learned? How? Which classes, books, ideas, or individuals have been most influential, and why? How will your education thus far benefit you in graduate school?
