Program Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology - Exercise Science offers two options to align with students’ career goals: Exercise Science and Strength and Conditioning.
The Exercise Science option provides a broad foundation in human movement and health, preparing students for graduate study or careers in healthcare, fitness, and wellness fields.
The Strength and Conditioning option is designed for students aiming to become professional strength and conditioning coaches, focusing on performance enhancement and athletic training. This track prepares students to sit for the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam, a leading credential in the field.
As part of both options, students complete a 300-hour practicum that provides valuable real-world experience in the field. Upon completion, a number of students apply and are accepted into the following professional schools: physician assistant, dental, medical, pharmacy, and physical therapy.

What You'll Learn
The Kinesiology curriculum is both academically and physically engaging, preparing you for advanced study or your career. Our curriculum is designed to give students a solid foundation within exercise science, preparing them for a variety of career paths and pre-professional programs such as Medicine, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Dentistry, Athletic Training, Health and Fitness, Personal Training, Exercise Physiology, and Biomechanics.
Courses in this major allow you to earn additional certifications. KHP 190 allows students to earn their CPR certification through the American Red Cross, opening opportunities to shadow and work in various health care fields. KHP 350 gives students the opportunity to become Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). KHP 450 prepares students to obtain their personal training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. Additionally, students are required to complete a practicum course that requires 300 hours of real-world experience.

- Test Scores (optional): ACT or SAT scores can be submitted but are not required for university admission.

Application Requirements
Completed applications include an official high school transcript, application fee ($50 domestic/$60 international) and optional official ACT/SAT score (the University of Kentucky is test-optional for admission and scholarships through the 2028-29 academic year).
