Who is this program for?
A graduate certificate in Social Theory is ideal for individuals in the social sciences and humanities (e.g. Sociology, Anthropology, English, Philosophy) who seek to deepen their understanding of critical theories, and apply them to analyze societal structures and dynamics. This program is also valuable for those pursuing careers in academia, research, public policy, or social advocacy, where critical thinking and theoretical analysis inform their work.
Program Overview
This certificate offers students systematic multidisciplinary training in social theory. It augments, and is pursued concurrently with, the regular M.A. and Ph.D. degree programs of participating departments. In total, the certificate requires ten hours of course work, can be pursued in tandem with regular degree programs, and is open to all graduate students at the University of Kentucky.
