Who is this program for?

The Lean Systems Engineering Technology bachelor's program is designed for BCTC transfer students (or students transferring from other similar programs). This program prepares graduates for careers as process improvement specialists, operations managers, or quality control engineers, equipping them with the skills to implement lean principles and drive continuous improvement in various technical and organizational settings.

Program Overview

This program offers students a seamless transition from our local community college, BCTC, into the UK College of Engineering. Students start their studies at BCTC in the AAS in Integrated Engineering Technology program. After earning their AAS, students transfer to UK to earn their bachelor's degree in Lean Systems Engineering Technology. Alternatively, students can transfer into the program from any other institution if they meet the program requirements for admission listed below.

Graduates of the Lean Systems Engineering Technology program will be trained in the latest technologies and equipped with the practical skills and hands-on experience necessary for thriving in advanced technology industries. Students can enjoy an integrated education with a unique technology pathway that features participation in extensive industrial practicums.

The Engineering Career and Co-op Center is a valuable resource for assisting you with developing job and co-op search skills; participating in education-abroad programs and participating in research endeavors and career network development so you can secure a rewarding career in your chosen field of study.

Learning also happens in student organizations, on field trips, and on community service projects. The Pigman College of Engineering offers over 40 student-led organizations, teams, and associations that Lean Systems Engineering Technology students can get involved.

Join the Engineering Living Learning Program

The ELLP provides a welcoming community for engineering and computer science students to be supported academically and establish meaningful connections with other students.

This residential experience complements classroom expectations by integrating students into the engineering community with programs centered on professional development and academic support. In addition, the ELLP provides students with opportunities to interact with College of Engineering faculty, alumni, industry partners, academic advisors, engineering student organizations, and Peer Mentors. Peer Mentors are hand-selected to support new students during their transition to the University of Kentucky.
