About

There are two entry points to the DNP Program. We offer a post-Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) entry option for those with an awarded master's degree in nursing who are already prepared in the role of the advanced practice registered n (APRN). We also offer a post-Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) entry option, which builds on the BSN degree, and prepares individuals for the APRN role. Both options culminate with the DNP degree.

Objectives

  • Graduates who are expert practitioners for diverse populations and systems who engage in leadership to create practice environments that improve health care outcomes
  • Graduates who promote evidence-based innovations, technologies and scholarship in nursing and health care delivery to improve practice
  • Graduates who synthesize scientific, theoretical, and policy data from a variety of disciplines to improve health care systems and health outcomes for individuals and populations
  • Collaborate in inter/intraprofessional networks that promote diversity and optimize care in complex health care systems
  • Graduates who create an environment that supports personal and professional development to enhance health care outcomes and life quality for populations

The post-MSN Option can be completed in two years of full-time study. Part-time plans are also available.

Deadline for fall admission is Feb. 15. Admission decisions are made on a competitive basis. Applications received after Feb. 15 may be considered on a space-available basis.

DNP nursing courses are Web-enhanced and require attendance at class meetings approximately 5 times each semester on UK's campus.
