Prerequisites
- Bachelor's degree
- Cumulative 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Average of 2.75 GPA for the following science courses with a minimum grade of "C" in each:
- 3-credit hour course in human anatomy
- 3-credit hour course in human physiology
- 3-credit hour course in general biology
- 3-credit hour course in general microbiology
- 3-credit hour course in human nutrition (Must be equivalent to NFS 212 at UK; see www.iris.uky.edu/TransferEquivalency/ )
- 3-credit hour course in general statistics
- 4-credit hour course in general chemistry (Must be equivalent to CHE 103 at UK. See link above for transfer equivalency. One year of general college chemistry with a minimum grade of "C" in each course is also acceptable.)
- 3-4 credit hour course in general psychology

March 1 - for fall semester
August 15 - for spring semester
Apply online at www.nursingcas.org. DO NOT APPLY DIRECTLY TO UK. Nursing CAS replaces the UK and the College of Nursing applications. When you log in to NursingCAS you will create an account and manage your application through their portal. Use Mozilla Firefox as your browser to have the most successful interaction with the website.
On the NursingCAS website, review the information under the tab, "Before You Apply." The process has multiple steps and all must be complete for your application to be considered. Allow a minimum of four weeks for NursingCAS to complete the entire application process. Submit your Personal Statement as part of the NursingCAS application. References are NOT required.

Do NOT apply to UK for admission for the Second Degree Option. We will only review applications that come through NursingCAS.
Statement of Purpose
Please include a one-page, typed statement outlining your reasons for pursuing a change in career. Include factors that contributed to your decision, your experiences and/or abilities you believe are important for nursing, and your career expectations.
Interviews
Watch this page for specific dates. Students will not be admitted who do not complete an interview. Applicants are selected for interview after an initial screening of the application and transcript.
Notifications for Interviews and Final Admission Decisions
Applicants will be ntotified by e-mail of the selection for an interview. Those not selected for interview will also be notified.
Final decisions will be made within two weeks after the interviews are completed. Letters are mailed via regular mail and all students who are interviewed receive a letter. Please be sure that all contact information is correct on the application forms.
International Applicants
The TOEFL is required of all applicants for whom English is not their native language. The online-based test is required. Minimum scores accepted are: Cumulative - 90; Speaking - 26; Listening - 22; Writing - 20; Reading - 20. You must submit this TOEFL score directly to the College of Nursing in addition to completing the NursingCAS application. If your degree is from a foreign institution you must submit an evaluation by WES or one of the other admission services.
