Nursing Skills Lab Interns

The goal of the Nursing Skills Lab Internship is to assist interested junior/senior undergraduate students in learning how to teach beginning nursing students how to perform clinical nursing and med math skills.

Benefits of the skills lab internship

  • Increased proficiency with clinical nursing skills as a result of teaching others

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of teaching and learning principles
  • Assess learning needs related to nursing and med math skills
  • Work with undergraduate students in learning and practicing nursing skills
  • Work with undergraduate students in learning and practicing med-math skills
  • Assist in setting up nursing skills laboratory experiences
  • Assist in reviewing student competencies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursing laboratory
  • simulation experiences
  • Attend course and lab meetings as time permits

Pass/Fail

Eligibility

  1. Junior- and senior-level nursing majors
  2. Minimum 3.0 GPA nursing and cumulative GPA
  3. Letter of recommendation from the student’s current clinical instructor or course coordinator
  4. Students may participate in only one nursing enrichment opportunity (i.e., nursing research interns; nursing practice scholars; nursing skills lab interns)
