Graduate Scholarships
March 15, 2013 is the deadline to apply for a 2013-2014 academic year (fall 2013, spring 2014) College of Nursing graduate student scholarship. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements for admission to the UK College of Nursing DNP or PhD program and be in good academic standing. Priority in awarding scholarship funds is given to currently enrolled students who have a proven DNP or PhD academic success record. Scholarships are awarded for one academic year and disbursed in equal amounts in the fall and spring semesters, unless otherwise stated in the award letter. Scholarships are renewable provided the recipient continues to meet the terms of the scholarship and make reasonable academic progress. UK’s Reasonable Academic Progress Policy is here: http://www.uky.edu/financialaid/rap. Even if the scholarship is renewable, students must apply each year for continued support.
The College of Nursing Scholarship Committee reviews all completed applications and attachments submitted by the March 15, 2013 deadline. Applicants are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible and both the scholarships and amounts available to award vary from year to year. The scholarship amount, when added to other sources of financial aid, may not exceed the total annual cost of attendance as determined by the UK Office of Student Financial Aid, http://www.uky.edu/financialaid/overaward-policy. Award recipients and non-recipients will be notified no later than July 1 prior to the start of the academic year via mail and/or email. All recipients must complete a Scholarship Acceptance Form by the deadline listed to confirm acceptance of the award or they forfeit their scholarship.
The college adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA):

Scholarship Brunch
Hosted annually by the College of Nursing and emeriti faculty, this event provides an opportunity for donors and their families to meet the recipients of the scholarships they have established. All scholarship award recipients are expected to attend.

Other Sources for Graduate Scholarships
Finding money to pay for your graduate nursing education can be challenging. Plan to spend time researching scholarships online by searching for “nursing school scholarship.” Check with the armed forces (any branch - UK has Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC on campus), employers, hospitals (nurse recruitment), non-profit organizations, nursing organizations (including your specialty area), private lending institutions and local, state or federal agencies.
PhD students are also eligible for fellowships, assistantships and support funding through the UK Graduate School: www.gradschool.uky.edu/StudentFunding/funding.html. DNP students are not eligible for UK Graduate School awards.
