Students in the DNP Program are guided in development of practice scholarship throughout the program of study. The focus of practice scholarship is formalized in the end-of-program final project that reflects synthesis of knowledge and mastery of a topic in their particular specialty. It is designed to serve as a foundation for improvement of problems in nursing practice and health care systems.
While the final project may differ in form, it is similar in that the theme is on application of knowledge for improved outcomes in practice with individuals and populations. Examples include but are not limited to pilot projects, program evaluation, quality improvement project or evaluation of a practice model. Often, papers that are part of the final project are submitted for publication or presentation at local, regional or national forums.
