Critical Care Division
This practice role, in the Critical Care Division, is that of intensivist advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). The APRN collaborates with physicians from Pulmonary Associates and Cardiovascular and Thoracic Associates of Lexington in providing care to critically ill patients.
This role requires applying acute care advanced nursing practice skills and certification to diagnose, and treat conditions and complications experienced by critically ill patients with pulmonary and/or cardiovascular surgical conditions that might include acute respiratory and cardiac failure, shock, multi-system organ failure, and comprehensive case management of the critically ill adult.

Nurse researcher Dorothy Brockopp, PhD, RN-is an evidence-based practice consultant at Central Baptist Hospital and works across disciplines. Dr. Brockopp writes articles, grants and award applications, analyzes data and designs studies. This partnership started in Nov 2007, consulting with cardiology, oncology, nursing, pharmacy, and physical therapy.
