practice engagement
You got into the nursing profession to care for people at the most vulnerable times in their lives.

In keeping with the university's goal to "improve the quality of life of Kentuckians through engagement, outreach and service," College of Nursing faculty and staff have a long-standing commitment to serve and engage with a variety of stakeholder groups. These service and engagement activities include the provision of expert nursing practice, continuing education and community education offerings, as well as leadership of nursing and health-related boards, committees and task forces, at the local, state, national and international levels.

The College has supported an active program of faculty practice for more than 20 years. Through this plan, the College's advanced practice nurses, which include family nurse practitioners, pediatric nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurse practitioners, acute care nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists, serve our constituents as both consultants and direct care providers in hospitals, clinics, schools and homeless shelters.
