Purpose: To increase the participant's knowledge and understanding of workplace violence and its effect on the workplace, including the effects on the employee, employer, and co-workers; and to recognize the role of health care in the development of primary prevention programs that decrease the incidence of workplace violence.
Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course the participants should be able to:
- gain an understanding of the four types of violence that workers are exposed to at work sites;
- recognize that workplace violence is a public health issue that should respond to primary prevention programs;
- participate in the development of a primary prevention program to decrease the incidence of violence in the workplace.
