Understanding Breakthrough Cancer Pain: From Pathophysiology to Emerging Treatment Options

Purpose: Discuss the pathophysiology of breakthrough pain; present an analysis of the latest research into breakthrough cancer pain and the emerging treatment options. 

Target Audience: Nurses and other medical professionals involved in the management of patients with breakthrough cancer pain.
