Marcia K. Stanhope, UK BSN 1967 and Good Samaritan Professor and Chair in Community Health Nursing in the College of Nursing, was the recipient of the 2011 Provost’s Public Scholar Award. The award recognizes UK faculty and professional staff whose careers are marked by sustained activities that systematically and effectively advance university-community engagement, successfully address important community issues through collaborative initiatives and create intellectual products respected by peers within and beyond the academy.
Barbara Romano Teague, ’1976 1981 NUR, 1997 ED is president of the Council of State Archivists. She is also Kentucky state archivist and records administrator and public records division director at the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.
Joan E. Purdon, 1985, is chairwoman of Georgia Perimeter College Nursing Program in Atlanta, Ga. Previously she was the director of the health ministry program at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She also served eight years as chairwoman of the nursing program at Raymond Walters College at the University of Cincinnati, where she was also a member of the faculty.
Katie Ruth Busby, 2006, is part-time adjunct faculty at Indiana University School of Nursing in Environments for Family Health. She completed her master’s of science in nursing administration at Indiana University last August and was married in May.
Kelly Ann Morris, 2010 is a registered nurse at Owensboro Medical Health System in the heart center recovery unit. She is also a faculty member for the University of Louisville – Owensboro campus. The May 2010 graduate received the Sebastian-Stanhope Award recognizing her as the outstanding doctoral student having maintained a 4.0 GPA, advanced scholarly activities and for demonstrating mentoring behaviors to nursing students.
